For more than 40 years our team has concentrated on the scientific study of aggressive and high-risk behavior. We developed the Violence Risk Appraisal Guide (VRAG), Sex Offender Risk Appraisal Guide (SORAG), Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessment (ODARA), and Domestic Violence Risk Appraisal Guide (DVRAG). We conduct quantitative research; publish in the peer-reviewed literature; acquire peer-reviewed grants and other external research funds; hold academic appointments; partner with university and government collaborators; host graduate student researchers; provide internal and external education, training, and technical support; hosted an internationally renowned scientific conference; design, implement, evaluate, and advocate for evidence-based practice (examples here); and support institutional research ethics boards. Our research focuses on topics described in these pages. And, over the decades, the work has addressed four issues about each: the risks for the phenomenon; appropriate treatment and other interventions; translation of knowledge for practitioners; and policy implications of the findings. This website describes the research and allows users to contact us for more information.
